Which Chevy Truck Is Best for Towing?

The right Chevy truck for towing depends on your trailer weight, how often you tow, and the type of work or recreation you plan to handle.

• Chevrolet Colorado: Up to 7,700 lbs. of max available towing — a strong option for midsize truck shoppers towing smaller trailers, boats, or recreational equipment.
• Chevrolet Silverado 1500: Up to 13,300 lbs. of max available towing — well suited for larger recreational trailers, work equipment, and everyday towing needs.
• Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD: Up to 22,420 lbs. of max available towing — built for heavier trailers, equipment, ranch work, and demanding jobs.
• Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD: Up to 36,000 lbs. of max available towing — the strongest option for fifth-wheel, gooseneck, agricultural, and commercial towing.

Actual towing capacity varies by engine, drivetrain, cab, bed, equipment, passengers, cargo, and trailering configuration. Our team of Chevy truck experts can help you confirm the towing rating of the specific truck you plan to purchase.

Chevy Trucks for Weatherford and North Texas Driving

A truck in Weatherford often has to handle more than one job. It may spend the workweek traveling I-20 toward Fort Worth before hauling supplies, towing equipment, working around a ranch, or heading onto rural roads over the weekend.

When comparing Chevy trucks, consider:

• Towing capacity: Think about your trailer weight and how often you tow.
• Payload: Consider passengers, cargo, tools, equipment, and trailer tongue weight.
• Cab size: Crew Cab models can provide additional space for family, coworkers, or gear.
• Bed length: Longer beds can be useful for tools, building materials, ranch supplies, and equipment.
• Drivetrain: Available four-wheel drive may be useful for rural roads, job sites, and changing conditions.
• Highway comfort: Drivers regularly traveling between Weatherford and Fort Worth may prioritize cabin space, technology, and ride comfort.
• Heavy-duty capability: Regular heavy towing or commercial use may make a Silverado HD a better fit than a light-duty truck.

The goal is not simply to buy the biggest truck available. It is to choose the Chevrolet truck that fits the work, driving, passengers, and towing you expect to handle most often.

Used Trucks for Sale in Weatherford

Jerry’s Chevrolet also carries used Chevy trucks and pre-owned pickups from other manufacturers. With around 900 trade-in vehicles purchased in 2025, our used inventory changes regularly, giving shoppers additional options across price points and capability levels.

When comparing used trucks, consider:

• Mileage and maintenance history
• Previous towing or heavy-work use
• Tire, brake, and suspension condition
• Cab and bed configuration
• Engine and drivetrain
• Trailering equipment
• How well the truck fits your everyday workload

Whether you are shopping for a used Silverado or comparing pickup trucks from several brands, our team can help you find an option that fits your needs and budget.
